Thoughts on SF Fandom, Writing and Life

Abstract of Autobiography: Internet/computer geek, writer (though more of a photographer these days), reader, loves to travel, quasi-conformist, feminist, wife, mother, casual, attempts to be proactive to fend off being reactive but doesn't always succeed, Yankee.

Ancestry: English, Irish, German, Scot, French (Canadian)

Genealogy: My American ancestry dates back to the mid-1600s when several English families emmigrated to Massachusetts. My family names include Shonyo (previously Chagnon from France via Canada), Crawford, MacLaren, Lang (Scotland), Fisher (German), Foley (Irish), Southwick, Fairbanks, Gerrish, Trask, Winslow, Terry, Greenleaf, and Dickinson (English) and Domag (either French or German).

I'm spent early 2008 trying to get over my insomnia (I was in a clinical drug study which showed Ambien gave me an extra hour or so a night for only $8 a month!), taking a college class on documentary filmmaking, and making frequent updates to the official Denvention Web site and the unofficial Denvention LiveJournal. I got to be a movie extra for She's Out of My League which was a complete ball. I followed the local filming of The Road by writing a Web site about it. And, something that should have made 2008 even better - I got the kind of part-time, technical job I've been trying to find for years! Sadly, they haven't called me to work since July and have never said why for sure (though there may have been a problem with funding as it was a contract). Oh well...

Had a very busy Denvention and a lovely trip up to the Rocky Mountains for a few days following.

Since then, I've worked my little airport job a few hours a week, looked for a more full-time job but only had one job interview all fall. I did volunteer for Obama, since my fall was not completely wasted. ;-> Have plans to go to the inauguration, even if that just means standing on the mall in Washington, surrounded by 4 million people.
